Raizes do Brasil Capoeira here in Madison Wisconsin is led by Instructor Sabidinho (Dominic Stryker). Instructor Sabidinho began training with Mestre Papiba of Santa Cruz, CA in the summer of 1996. Starting in 1999 Instructor Sabidinho began to help teach and even substitute teach both the adult and kids classes in Santa Cruz.
In the fall of 2000 Sabidinho moved to San Francisco CA for school but he continued to train capoeira with Raizes do Brasil in Oakland CA under Professor Tartaruga, as well as regular visits back to Santa Cruz and Mestre Papiba. While completing his B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development at San Francisco State University, Instructor Sabidinho was not only able to train regularly, but he also would regularly sub for Prof. Tartaruga and teach classes in an after-school program in east Oakland.
The Madison, WI chapter of Raizes do Brasil began when Pirata, another of Mestre Papiba's students and now a graduate student at UW Madison, invited Sabidinho to start teaching a capoeira class here. In August 2006 Sabidinho moved to Madison and in September he started teaching capoeira.
